Why Low Profile?

This is the easiest shower to walk into.

The curb height ranges from 1 3/8" to 2 1/4" high. A dramatic change from a tall tub or even a regular shower.
The low curb makes showering a no-worry experience.

Also, the low profile maintains the attractive style of our regular showers. Many think this new contemporary look
is even better.

A low profile base can also be used for wheel chair access when installed as a level access shower or when installed using an add-on ramp.

Will Water Overflow?

No. Showers use 2" drains which keep water draining so quickly that water doesn't have time to build up.
The shower base also has the standard 1/4" per foot slope and a soft bevel on the curb to prevent the water
from overflowing.

Installation for a Low Profile Curb

• shower base installed directly onto the flooring

• shown installed on the subfloor
• flooring is shown installed against the front of the Onyx curb

Installation for a Level Access Shower

• subfloor is taken out
• 2x4s are scabbed onto the side of the floor joists, 3/4" down
• 3/4" subfloor is placed on the 2x4s, flush with the top of the floor joists
• base rests on the new subfloor

• subfloor is taken out
• floor joists are notched enough that when the base is installed, the curb height will be at the same level as the bathroom floor
• subfloor is replaced on top of the notched joists
• base rests on new subfloor
